Smoke and Mirrors

Saturday, September 14th, 2019
Sasha Velour
8:00pm

Colwell Playhouse
Krannert Center for the Performing Arts
500 S. Goodwin, Urbana

Event Description

Smoke & Mirrors, Sasha Velour's first one-queen show, is an effortless blend of drag, visual art, and magic. Velour introduces audiences to a whole new side of her artistry, through 13 dazzling and genre-busting lip-synch performances, all directed and choreographed by the queen herself. The real magic is the way that these illusions and deceptions serve to unmask deeper truths, sparking fresh analysis of gender, fame, family, and the importance of dreaming big and living life over-the-top.

This event is free but tickets are required. Tickets will be available at the KCPA box office starting August 19. Limit of two per person.

Hosted by: Krannert Center for the Performing Arts

In conjunction with: College of Fine and Applied Arts, Illinois Program for Research in the Humanities, Illinois, Theatre, Lorado Taft Fund, Russian, East European, and Eurasian Center, Siebel Center for Design, Spurlock Museum
