Event Description

The Zapatistas have a saying that "nothing is impossible for those who can see the invisible. Something can be invisible until you make it into something that has shape and form." Since 2014, Monica Trinidad has supported social justice movements in Chicago through her narrative-centered illustrations, and created an artist collective (For the People Artists Collective) to deepen the sustainability of Chicago's grassroots movements' visibility. In this exhibition, Monica and other artists will challenge our perceptions of what is possible when we demand the impossible for a better world.

This exhibition runs through May 17, 2020 and is part of the University Y’s Art @ the Y program which seeks to engage issues of social justice, international understanding, environmental activism, and faith and cultural understanding through quality arts programming. Some of the most profound insight, critique, and creative thinking around the issues which comprise the mission of the University Y happen in and around the arts.
