Astronomy with Laser Guide Stars

Ground-based astronomical telescopes are being equipped for the first time with laser guided adaptive optics systems. One of these revolutionary devices has been built here at UIUC for use at Mt. Wilson Observatory, and it will provide the means to view astronomical objects with the clarity of a telescope located in space.
