Event Description

11:00am, Gisela Sin,The Disempowered Executive: Reconsidering the Line-Item Veto

Many scholars believe that the line-item veto (LIV) empowers executives to shape the budget and advance their agendas. Contrary to this prevalent view, Professor Sin will argue that the LIV in fact prevents them from reaching favorable agreements with the legislature, contributing to increased gridlock and polarization.

Noon, Clara Bosak-Schroeder, The Seven Wonders Project: From Page to Digital Book

Professor Bosak-Schroeder's current project blends traditional scholarship with creative nonfiction to explore how contemporary artists from marginalized standpoints, especially women and non-binary people of color, are reimagining ancient Mediterranean monuments. This talk reflects on her experience crossing genres and media: the project began as an adult activity book, then became a scrapbook, and is now restarting life in a digital environment.
