21st Century Biology

Thursday, October 30th, 2003
Mary Clutter

Auditorium, National Soybean Research Laboratory
1101 West Peabody Drive
Urbana

Event Description

Biology cannot be boxed in by the academic disciplinary and regulatory barriers of the 20th century if it intends to meet the challenges of the 21st. It must be new, boundary-free, discipline–multidisciplinary, multidimensional, information-driven, education-oriented, and engaged in the global arena.  Federal support for basic research recognizes the need for a new paradigm with funding levels and directions that reflect the emphasis on new partnerships between federal, state, private, and international concerns.
