The Next Big Thing for People with Disabilities: Moving from Civil Rights to Economic Well-Being

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011
Andy Imparato
4:00 pm

Room 2025, Student Dining and Residential Programs Building 301 East Gregory Drive Champaign

Event Description

Building on his extensive experience investigating intersections of public policy and disability rights, Andy Imparato considers economic empowerment as a means to secure the complete integration of people with disabilities into American civic life.
This talk provides a moment of critical reflection as we celebrate the contributions of Tim Nugent, the founder of the Division of Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES), and our campus' longstanding commitment to disability leadership. It is the capstone of a series of events planned to raise the profile of disability issues in the campus and local/state community.
