Event Description

John B. Anderson served as a congressman from the 16th District of Illinois from 1960-1980. During his later years in Congress, he was the chair of the Republican Conference and served on the Rules Committee. In 1980, he ran as an independent candidate for the presidency of the United States and received around 7% of the popular vote.
