Event Description

The number of overweight and obese people in the United States has reached epidemic portions. Fat cells secrete hormones and other factors that have widespread influence on energy balance and insulin sensitivity through effects on the brain and other organs.  Dr. Kahn will provide an overview of novel advances in understanding the pathogenesis of obesity and diabetes and highlight her research on intertissue communication in the regulation of food intake, body weight and glucose homeostasis.
