Event Description

Irene Tinker, a pioneer in the field of women in international development, discusses alternative approaches that women in developing countries are taking to influence policies and achieve a more equitable share of political and economic power. She addresses the growing variety of non-governmental and grassroots organizations that permit women to develop leadership skills around particular policy issues, such as housing rights, legalizing vending of street foods, and access to credit.
