A leading figure in the Indian women's and human rights movements and founder/editor of the journal Manushi, Madhu Kishwar reviews women's struggles in post-independence India and prospects for Indian women in the next century.

Madhu Kishwar's talk is part of a year-long series of events in recognition of India's fiftieth anniversary of independence.
